Dear OSU Marching Band Member,

Hello!

I hope you are having a great summer. We are looking forward to bigger and better things next fall and I am glad that you will be with us. It is looking like we are gong to be up to about 180 members this year—the largest OSU Band in a long time. Please read this very carefully; if you are a Vet we have changed the format of this mailing and the information that we ask. We will be asking for some very specific information and it is important that you get it to us right away to help us in our planning.

If any of your contact information changes over the course of the summer please inform us immediately. If at any point you have questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me via email at osubands@orst.edu or call (541) 737-0544.

Get Registered
It is important that you get registered as soon as possible if you have not done so already. Register for Music 153/353 CRN 11187/11189 (at Linn Benton CC: MP 103 2CRN 0380). If you have any conflicts please contact me so that we can do an over ride for you. Remember that you can register for one or two credits. If you have troubles getting registered, please contact me for assistance.

Music on the Web
The music for the pregame show and the Broadway show (our first halftime show) are up on the web for you to download, practice, and start to MEMORIZE over the summer. Percussion parts are coming soon. The username is “osumb” and the password is “gobeavs”.

Band Camp
Band camp will begin on THURSDAY, September 17 for the full band (Monday, September 14 for Color Guard and Drumline, and Wednesday, September 16 for Student Leaders). Click here to see a tentative Band Camp Schedule.

We will make arrangements for you to move into your dorms—you do not need to contact University Housing.

Summer Gigs and early Game
There is one home football game before band camp begins and you are invited to play. On Saturday September 5 we will have our Alumni Band show for the game with PSU. We will learn an easy pregame and halftime show. We also have a few other gigs scheduled through the summer. For more information and to sign up, go to this link.

You will get more information later in the summer, but you can let us know of your interest in the return form below.

Fall Rehearsal Schedule
This Fall the band will now rehearse Monday and Wednesday 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. in Truax Indoor Center, and Friday 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Reser Stadium. If you have an unavoidable schedule conflict with the time please let me know right away and we will work something out.

OSUMB Fall Schedule 2009 - Tentative (6/22/09)
Our season schedule can be found here.

Later this summer you will receive the final schedule and we will supply you with the rest of the kick-off times as soon as we get them.

Please respond
Please complete the form at the bottom of this web page as soon as possible. With more people in the band it is even more important that you be prompt in your reply and thorough in your answers.

That is all the information we have for now. I am eager to get started! Please let us know of your intentions right away so that we can continue to reserve your spot in the band next fall. Do not hesitate to email or call if you have questions or concerns. Enjoy the rest of the summer—I will be in touch again in July. I look forward to seeing you in the fall. Go Beavers!
